There’s no question that women gamers are a growing and influential force in the gaming community. In fact, according to a recent study by FandomSpot, three-quarters of female gamers disguise their gender while playing video games. This is especially true among women who identify as female, as well as those who are not typically drawn to video games. According to the study, these gamers often use gender-bending techniques such as wearing male clothing or using male pronouns when talking about their games. While it’s important for all gamers to be aware of the ways in which they can be discriminated against based on their gender identity, this study provides a unique perspective on the issue. It also underscores the importance of creating an inclusive gaming environment for all players – regardless of their gender identity.
