If you’re like most drivers, your Jensen vx7020 navigation system is a decade old and needs an update. Here’s how to do it:
- Turn off the car and disconnect the battery.
- Remove the faceplate on the dashboard. There are four Phillips screws holding it in place.
- Locate the CD player and remove the cover. There are two Phillips screws holding it in place, one on each side of the player.
- Locate the navigation system and remove its faceplate by unscrewing four screws located around its perimeter (two on each side). Be careful not to lose any of the cables that come out of it!
- Remove all of the old components from inside the navigation system: CD player, faceplate, wires, etcetera. You’ll want to save all of these parts for later!
- Install new components in their respective locations: CD player cover, faceplate, wires, navigation system faceplate, battery (if applicable), and car connections (if applicable). Be sure to reconnect all of the cables as you go! Replace any missing or damaged parts as needed.
- Reinstall everything in reverse order: battery, car connections, navigation system cover, faceplate with screws (4), wires (3), CD player with cover and screws (2), dashboard faceplate with screws (4). Make sure everything is properly aligned before replacing any screws! ..
