If you’re looking to take your Xbox One controller apart, here’s how:
- Open the Xbox One controller by pressing the power button and the eject button at the same time. The front panel will pop off.
- Remove the four screws that hold down the top cover.
- Lift up the top cover and remove it from the controller. You’ll see four white buttons on each side of the console, a green light bar in the middle, and a black disc drive in the back.
- On each side of the console, remove two screws that hold down a circuit board (labeled “CB”). Be careful not to lose these screws! They’re small and silver, and look like this: . . . <– picture of screw 5) Carefully lift up one end of each CB and set them aside on some paper towels or another flat surface so they don’t get damaged. You’ll now be able to see both sides of each white button on each side of your controller (see image below).
- On one side of each white button, you’ll see two small Phillips head screws (labeled “PH1” in image below). Remove these screws with a Phillips head screwdriver (or a coin if you have one). Be careful not to lose them! They’re very small and silver, and look like this:
- Now use your fingers to gently pull outwards on both sides of each white button until they pop out from their housing (see image below). You may need to do this several times until they come out completely - don’t force them! If you break either one of these buttons while taking it apart, it will be very difficult or impossible to replace without replacing both sides at once.
- Once both sides are free from their housing, set them aside on some paper towels or another flat surface so they don’t ..
