If you’re ever going to have to take apart an iPhone 5, it’s a good idea to have a screwdriver. Not only will this help you if something goes wrong, but it also makes the process easier. To take apart an iPhone 5, first remove the battery cover. Then, remove the screws that hold the phone together (there are six of them). Once those are gone, you can start taking apart the phone itself.

  1. Remove the bottom case. This is held on by four screws.
  2. Remove the two home buttons and their magnets (there are two of these).
  3. Remove the battery cover. There are three screws here.
  4. Remove all of the components inside of the phone (the processor, camera, etc.). Be careful not to damage any of these things!
  5. Put everything back together again in reverse order!
