If you’re looking to take apart your PlayStation 4 slim, there are a few things you’ll need before getting started. The first is a Phillips head screwdriver, which should be the same size as the screws that hold the console together. You’ll also need some pliers, a small flathead screwdriver, and some wire cutters.
- Start by removing the four screws that hold the top of the console together. Once they’re out, gently lift off the top of the PS4 slim.
- Next, remove two screws that hold down the front panel of the console. Again, be gentle and don’t force anything - just use your fingers to pry it off.
- Now you can remove all eight screws that secure the motherboard to the console body (four on each side). Be careful not to lose any of these screws - they’re very small and easy to lose!
- Once all eight screws are out, gently pull off the motherboard from both sides of the console body. Make sure to save any cables that are connected to it - we’ll need them later on!
- Next up is removing all of the internal components from within the console body: graphics card, CPU/GPU (if present), memory chips etc… You can do this by either taking them out one at a time or using a tool called an extraction tool which helps break them free without damaging them too much (you can find these online or at most electronics stores). Just be careful not to lose any of these components - they’re very delicate! ..
