If you’re like most gamers, you probably have a few games saved on your Xbox One that you’d love to play with friends. But if you want to set up a LAN connection and play those games together, it can be a bit of a hassle. Here’s how to do it:
- First, make sure that your Xbox One is connected to the internet. If not, go ahead and do that now.
- Once your Xbox One is connected to the internet, open the Settings menu and select Network.
- Under “Network Type,” select “Local Area Connection (LAN).”
- Under “Local Area Connection (LAN),” select “Create New Connection…” and enter the following information: Name: This should be something descriptive like “Xbox Live Local Play” or something similar Address: The IP address of your computer or other device that will be hosting the game server Port: The port number on your computer or other device that will be hosting the game server (usually 3478) Security Type: Select “Windows Authentication” if you want to use Windows authentication for this connection or “Basic Authentication” if you want to use basic authentication for this connection
- Click OK and then close the Settings menu.
- Now open up any game that you want to play online with friends and click on the multiplayer icon in the bottom-left corner of the screen (it looks like two people shaking hands). If everything goes according to plan, you should see a list of available players next to their names in blue text. Double-click on someone else’s name and then hit Join Game…
- You should now see yourself in whatever game they’re playing—just make sure that your Xbox One is set up properly so that everyone can hear each other properly! ..
