If you have a DVR, it’s important to reset it to factory settings so that your recordings are as they were when you first set up the DVR. This will help keep your recordings accurate and consistent. To reset the DVR, follow these steps:

  1. Open the DVR’s menu and select “reset.”
  2. On the reset screen, enter the following information: -Channel number: This is the number that corresponds to your DVR’s primary channel. For example, if your DVR has two channels, enter “2” on the reset screen. -Time of day: This is the time of day that you want to reset records to their original state. For example, if you want to reset all records at 6 p.m., enter “6” on the screen. The time of day can be any number between 1 and 7 days ago (or any number between 0 and 7 hours ago). If you don’t know what time of day your DVR is currently in, enter “0” on the screen. The default value for this field is “0000.” (For more information about how time of day affects recordings, see our article How Time of Day Affects Recordings.) -Date/time: Enter this information into one or more fields to specify when you want to start recording new records for that particular day or week (for example, “Tue,” “Jan,” etc.). The default value for this field is “0000.” (For more information about how date/time affects recordings, see our article How Date/Time Affects Recordings.) (optional) If you want to erase all old records but leave any new ones in place, add an asterisk (*) after each record name on the list below and click on OK button.
