If you have a Yahoo account and you want to remove a linked account, follow these steps:
- Log in to your Yahoo account.
- Click on the link in the top left corner of your screen to access your settings.
- Scroll down to the bottom of the settings page and click on the link that says “Remove linked accounts.”
- In the next window, you will be asked to enter your name and password. If you do not have these credentials, you will need to create them before continuing.
- After entering your information, click on the “Confirm” button to finish removing your linked account.
I told the rep that I wanted to remove my mobile phone number and another secondary email address (which used to belong to an old AT&T wireless plan). The rep asked for the phone number to be removed and then asked me for the mobile account number on this plan. All secondary e-mail addresses associated with a scrapped cell phone plan must also be removed from Yahoo. You’ll get the same error message as above if you try to reactivate a defunct Verizon account number. What’s really nice about this is that when you’re done resolving the issue, your old phone number will still be listed on your Yahoo Messenger lists. You don’t have to worry about losing any of your contacts.
