Xbox controllers come in a variety of shapes and sizes, but the most common type is the “standard” controller. This controller has a black plastic housing with a white Xbox logo on one end and a red or green button on the other. The standard controller can be opened by unscrewing two screws at the back of the housing, then pulling out the black plastic part. The red or green button part can now be removed by gently pushing it out from underneath. Once all of the buttons have been removed, you will see four Torx screws hidden inside. These screws are used to attach the controller to your motherboard. To remove the controller from your motherboard, simply remove one screw and then twist it around so that it comes out from under the board. If all of this seems too complicated, don’t worry! There are plenty of tutorials online that will show you how to open an Xbox controller without Torx screws in just minutes!
