If you have an Xbox, there’s a good chance that one of your devices–the console, the controller, or even the Kinect–has started to show red rings. This is usually caused by something going wrong with one of the Xbox’s components, but it can also be caused by something else. Here are a few tips to help fix an Xbox red ring:
- Check the component: If you’re not sure what’s causing the red ring, check the component that’s causing it. Sometimes these things can be fixed by taking it apart and checking each part individually.
- Clean it: If you can’t find the component that’s causing the red ring, clean it and try again. This might include using a mild soap and water or a dry cloth to clean it off.
- Reset your console: If all of these steps don’t work and you still have a red ring, reset your console. This might include turning on your console and pressing any buttons for about 10 seconds until everything turns off (this might take a few tries). Then try again with some new components if needed.
