In Illustrator, you can create templates to help you create designs quickly and easily. A template can be used to create a basic design, or it can be used to create a more complex design. To create a template in Illustrator, open the File menu and select New Template. In the New Template dialog, enter a name for the template and click OK. When you open the new template, Illustrator will automatically detect the type of document you are working on and will display the Document Properties dialog. In this dialog, you can set up the properties of the new template. The following properties are important when creating templates: Name: The name of the template. You can set this property to any valid location in your document hierarchy. If you do not set this property, Illustrator will default it to where it finds your original file name for that type of document (usually at the top of your document). If you change this value, make sure that you also change the location of your original file so that other users can find it too! Formatting: You can use any formatting options that are available in Illustrator’s Format Painter tool (see below). However, if you do not use Format Painter, some properties in the Document Properties dialog may not be available until Format Painter is enabled (for example, font size). When Format Painter is enabled, these properties become available immediately and they are listed under “Format Painter Enabled” in parentheses after Name in the Document Properties dialog box. Format Painter Enabled Font Size: This property becomes available when Format Painter is enabled and lists under “Format
