Google Drive is a great way to keep track of your work and personal projects. However, if you’re like most people, you may have some inactive items in your account that you don’t want to see. To clear your activity log on Google Drive, follow these steps:

  1. Log into Google Drive.
  2. Click the three lines in the top left corner of the main screen and select “Clear my activity.”
  3. Enter your name and email address in the “Name” field and click the “Clear my activity” button.
  4. Your account will be cleaned out and all of your current projects will be backed up.

On the left, choose My Drive. Choose More . Select See all. Clear everything from the list by clicking Clear all. (You can select All items if you want to delete only specific items.) Click Close . Note: You won’t be able to undo this action unless you signed in as another user in Chrome or a different browser and then tried again. However, there are other reasons why an item might not be there — for example, if it was deleted by the owner of the file or marked private so that you can’t see it.

How do I clear my activity log in Drive?

If someone sends you a Drive file, but then changes their mind and retracts the invitation to view it, your copy of that file remains in your Google Drive activity log. Only the owner of the item can completely delete or hide a file from the activity log. If another user is the sender:

On your computer, open Chrome . In the address bar at the top, click More . Select See all. Clear everything from the list by clicking Clear all. (You can select All items if you want to delete only specific items.) Click Close . Note: You won’t be able to undo this action unless you signed in as another user in Chrome or a different browser and then tried again. However, there are other reasons why an item might not be there — for example, if the user deleted it.

On your computer, open Google Drive . In the top right corner of the page, click Settings . Click Filter explicit or offensive material. Choose a level from Safe Search Auto-Sensitive , depending on whether it is safe for all ages or not safe for work (NSFW). To temporarily turn filter off while browsing in Chrome: At the top of your screen, click More . Select See all. You can’t choose a specific level when using this option. Note: Safe Search Auto-Sensitive filters out only some explicit content in Drive and doesn’t filter for spam or phishing messages.

When you share a file, others can choose whether to accept your invitation: They may have access to view the file with different permissions. Depending on their activity in Google products and services, they might also get access to other files you’ve shared with them in Gmail or Google+.

Learn more about sharing in Gmail & Calendar. Then, if anyone emails you an invitation that isn’t from someone you know and want to work with (maybe it’s an anonymous message or email address), delete it immediately.

Your activity log is the list of files you have been working on in Google Drive as well as details about their access and sharing. You can view this information at any time by going to https://drive.google.com/drive/my-activity .

Files or actions that appear in your activity log will always be visible, even if they are deleted from Drive. For example, if a file has been shared with other people and then it is deleted by you, it may still show up in others’ drive activity logs until that person deletes the shared link for the file. The same goes for links that were created but have since been removed from Drive. Because these items can still be found via search queries , we cannot delete them from everyone’s activity logs.

In the event that you are a victim of data theft, we strongly recommend that you follow the steps outlined in our Data Theft Resolution Process . This will enable us to fully investigate and take any necessary action. Complete removal of your Google Account is also an option; however this may have an adverse effect on all other linked services as well as possible third party services.

If you want to remove entries from your activity log related to one or several specific items, please reach out directly via https://support.google.com/drive/?p=activitylogdelete with details about what needs to be removed and allow up to two weeks for us to perform an internal review before granting access or rejection of disclosure request. Be aware that we will not grant access or remove information if there is a possibility for risk of financial harm, potential violation of applicable law or these Terms and Conditions , or any other possible situation where disclosure could lead to undesirable outcomes. For example, the content may be in violation of one of our Google policies including violations related to harassment/hate speech content  or deceptive practices .

If you are seeking removal simply because you no longer want an item available via search queries on Drive (and it does not otherwise violate our terms, policies or privacy), please use the following link https://support.google.com/googledrive/?p=activity_log_delete . If you submit this form with a request for removal .
