If you’re like most women, you probably end up using your mascara tube more than you’d like to admit. And while it’s not the worst thing in the world to just toss it in the trash when it’s done, sometimes it’s nice to know how to clean out a mascara tube properly. Here are four easy steps on how to clean out a mascara tube:

  1. Remove any excess product from the wand by gently wiping it off with a tissue or your hand.
  2. Fill a small bowl or cup with warm water and add some mild soap. Swish the wand around in the water and then rinse off the wand under running water. Make sure to get all of the soap off!
  3. Pour a small amount of rubbing alcohol onto a cotton ball and swab around the inside of the lid of the tube. Gently twist and pull until you can remove the lid completely. Be careful not to let any alcohol get into your eyes!
  4. Rinse off all of the alcohol and soap residue with cool water, then dry off the tube thoroughly before storing it away again. ..
