Gutters can be a major source of mildew, so it’s important to clean them regularly to prevent the growth of mold and other contaminants. Here are four easy steps to cleaning gutters of mildew:
- Remove any debris or leaves that have accumulated on the gutter over the winter. This includes anything from leaves to twigs to snowflakes.
- Pour a gallon of hot water into the gutter and wait five minutes. This will loosen any built-up Mildew and other contaminants.
- Use a hose or a bucket with a spout to pour the hot water down the gutters, using a circular motion if possible. Be sure to get all of the Mildew and debris off of the gutters!
- Rinse off the gutters with fresh water and dry them off completely before applying sealant or paint, if desired. ..
