If you have dark grout that has turned white, it is time to clean it. Grout is a natural product and can be cleaned with a few simple steps.

  1. Pour a pot of water onto the floor and wait until it boils. Add the grout and let it boil for about 2 minutes. Remove from heat and pour the cold water over the grout. Let the mixture sit for 10 minutes to cool before using.
  2. Use a plunger to push the water mixture over the grout lines in small areas until all of the liquid has been absorbed. Be sure not to saturate any areas that are still black or green because this will cause further damage to the surface of the grout.
  3. Use a vacuum cleaner with its hose attachment to suck up all of the liquid that has been absorbed by the plunger and then place it into a bucket or other container for disposal.
