1. Preheat the electric griddle by turning it on to medium-high heat.
  2. Place the griddle on a clean surface and pour some cooking oil onto it.
  3. Pour water onto the griddle and spread it out so that it is even coverage.
  4. Use a brush or your hands to clean the entire surface of the electric griddle, making sure to get all of the oil and water off of it.
