If you have been asked to change your HMRC access code phone number, it is important that you do so as soon as possible. If you do not change your number, you may be subject to fines and/or imprisonment. To change your HMRC access code phone number:

  1. Go to the HMRC website and login.
  2. Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on “change my account.”
  3. Enter in the new access code number that you would like to use. You can also find this information on the back of your tax return or on HMRC’s website.
  4. Click on “submit.”
  5. You will be asked to confirm your new number before clicking on “submit.”
