If you’re one of the many PS4 Minecraft players who have been eagerly awaiting the arrival of Realms, Sony’s upcoming server-based multiplayer mode for the game, you may be disappointed to hear that Sony has announced that Realms will not be available at launch. The good news is that you can still play Minecraft on your own with friends, or join public servers. The bad news is that Sony is not currently planning to release a standalone server for Realms. This means that if you want to play with other people on Realms, you’ll need to use a third-party service like PC Gamer’s own Forge platform. This isn’t ideal, as it means having to switch between different platforms and apps, but it’s better than not having any multiplayer at all in the game. If Sony does release a standalone server for Realms down the line, it will likely require an extra purchase from players. In the meantime, we recommend using third-party services like Forge if you want to try out Realm mode. ..
