Adding a layer mask is a common Photoshop feature that allows you to control the appearance of an image. A layer mask is created by selecting the object you want to masked and then pressing the command key (or right-click and select “Create Mask”). To add a layer mask to an image, follow these steps:

  1. Select the object you want to masked.
  2. Choose “Edit > Mask” from the menu bar and then click on the desired area of the image.
  3. The mask will be created and will be in blue or black color depending on whether it is a solid or transparent object.
