Google has been in the email business for a long time, and it knows a thing or two about data retention. In a recent blog post, the company outlined its policy on deleted emails. According to Google, emails that are deleted from an account but not permanently deleted (like with the Trashcan feature) are kept for six months. After six months, Google deletes these emails automatically. This policy is different from what Microsoft does.
